Despite an appallingly wet and cold summer, Mum's garden is looking very good right now, and even better on Saturday night with a bonfire in it and grilled sardines on the bonfire (also sausages, the more outsize runner beans and courgettes). I have come home with more beans, more courgettes, cucumbers, apples, cobnuts and landcress. Oh, and beets. I think she may be trying to get rid of vegetables right now.

The autumn raspberries are in full spate, too.
