Dec. 21st, 2007 05:08 pm1) Ritual exclamations of dismay at the sheer fucking ineptitude of the office I've been working in for 2 weeks. It's not the people, who are pleasant and competent. It's the management systems and work-tracking: the shiny online work tracking isn't matched by the physical filing (and the physical filing is grotesquely ill-thought out - I suspect it's just evolved in an ad-hoc way, which is fair enough, but you really need to tidy it up from time to time as well), the online tracking isn't consistently filled in or closed out, and so they don't know what they've done, what they are doing, or what they need to do.
However, because I am a god-like being of great powers, and also possess some basic fucking common sense, about half of about three months work is now done. In two weeks, yes.
2) Got to throw things at Aidan for the first time in about 8 months yesterday, so that was good. Also said hi to Parit, but didn't throw things at him. And got a couple of new tricks to practice.
3) Wedding! Peak District! Devon! Dartmoor! Possible snow! Hurray for holidays!
4) ...crap, I still have to get something for John B for his birthday.
