Buying new books by living authors, because starving in garrets is *so* unfashionable.

I go on holiday on 20 July. The Apocalypse Codex, C. Stross, is out on the 19th. Predictable purchase is predictable! (I am still on print copies because... well, because I am! - I do have Calibre installed and a few e-books hanging around on the computer, and will pick up the Kindle for Mac application plus account at some point. But I will quite definitely be haunting a bookshop on the 19th.)

A new Stross to take on holiday! Appalling Lovecraftian vistas to accompany the mussels and oysters and clams and striped bass and lobster! (I am doomed to be eaten anyway, as are you and your town and your elected representatives and the kittens and the orangutans and the cyanobacteria and quite a lot of the bedrock, so I may as well get my revenge in first, sez I.)
