Splendid walk today: the Greenway from Beckton to Victoria Park, and then along the Stratford Union canal and Regent's Canal to Limehouse Cut. Missed the rain, caught the late afternoon sun, saw lots of birds (pigeons, gulls, doves, sparrows, one great tit, magpies, cormorants, coots - including nesting coots, one unimpressed moorhen and a pair of swans nesting right by the towpath). Also found out it's the last day before a chunk of the Greenway is closed by the Olympics, so that was lucky.

Incidentally, bollocks to the Olympics. The IOC are a bunch of corrupt tax-dodging bastards, the infringement on rights to free speech (including the criminalisation of trademark infringement) and protest are grotesque, and the security budget is a ludicrous waste of public funds dreamt up by a gang of professional paranoids with no realistic or sceptical oversight. I hope seagulls shit on them all from a great height and there's a thunderstorm during the opening ceremony.
