Apr. 8th, 2012 04:01 pmHave just bottled last year's sloe gin on the nice cabbalistic date 8/4/12... It was still slightly cloudy after two layers of muslin but pfft: it's all flavour, anyway.
Tastes fine - slightly sweeter than I'd prefer, maybe, so I might cut the proportion of sugar next time, but really good fruit flavour. Mildly astringent which I hope will pass off in the next 4 or 5 months before drinking. Glorious colour, of course.
ALso I now have some boozy sloes left over, which are a bit flavourless after steeping, and have a high stone to fruit ratio. Chocolate? Extra bit of fruit in a jam? I dunno.
