And that tentative thought about not buying more books lasted exactly as long as it took to walk by the £1 trolley at the local second-hand bookshop. Hey-ho.

Just for the hell of it: Small World, David Lodge; Flashman and the Tiger, George Macdonald Fraser (appears to be a UK first, but has no dustjacket and must have had a fairly enormous first printing, so will probably not provide a pension in my old age); The Education of Hyman Kaplan, Leo Rosten (collected shorts - one of which often gets into christmas anthologies, so it'll be nice to read the rest sometime); An Autobiography and Other Essays, GM Trevelyan; Watch This Space, A.P. Herbert ed. (anthology of non-fiction about the space race, printed 1964. Copyright Haddock Productions Ltd. Should be an interesting historical document and might even be funny.)
