Finally got round to switching from analogue to digital hearing aids. "Do not wear it when taking a shower or applying hairspray", says the instruction booklet. No shit?

They have a wireless network of their own, which is cool and a little disturbing. It doesn't say anything about the network protocol, which is a shame: it'd be nice to get audio off a Bluetooth dongle on the laptop, say. Or even off a phone. Just has a proprietary brand name for the networking instead. It does have an audio input but as this was the actual first time the clinic had dispensed this particular model, they're ordering the audio connectors and will post them out to me.

I have the beige version instead of the silver one shown on the booklet. Alas for lack of shiny! Maybe I can get silver for weddings, black for funerals... Much less wind noise on a bike, which is good. Otherwise, we shall see. And I still have the old hearing aids as backup. Followup appointment in just over a month to see how it goes.

(Huh. I've been using the old model for well over twenty years. I feel old. I should go and do something stupid and dangerous to get over it.)
