Kintaro Sushi is one of a little clutch of Japanese places along
Little Newport Street and Lisle Street. Used to be a place I'd go for
reasonably priced good (not outstanding, but good) sushi. I hadn't
been there for a year or so and the recent reviews were a bit mixed.

I'm pleased to say it still seems fine to me. Rice was clean and
sticky, not dry; nigiri and maki hadn't been sitting about and were
very simple; sashimi (2 each of salmon and sea bass) was good. Usual
radish julienne, slice of orange, miso soup all fine. Tempura was OK,
maybe a few seconds more cooking would have been better for the veg,
but I prefer under- to over-cooked anyway so it was no problem. I got
a bento box and it came with a rather unmemorable small steak as well
- next time I'll go a la carte on the sushi, or try a more interesting
bento. Nothing outstanding, lots of things done well, and less than
£20 for one (although you could go much higher if you stuck to the a
la carte sushi). Recommended, esp. for a quick meal near Leicester
Square on the way to or from something else.

One thing to remember is it's cash only, no cards - nearly caught me out...
