Bitter, but I like bitter, so that's OK. Will probably let it out with port and orange peel before eating, or something like that - it got a touch thicker than I wanted.
It's setting in a mug which was washed out with boiling water, not a sterilised jam-jar or anything sensible like that. Local produce, for certain values of local - Devon crab-apples from a garden I was in last weekend, and rowan berries from Ilkley Moor from this weekend. Also sugar from Malawi, and a little tap-water from Bedford.
